SHAPE–  Lily James Is Embracing a Completely New Normal During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

For the first time in years, Lily James isn’t hitting the road for a film project or spending her nights making glamorous red-carpet appearances. There’s a pandemic happening, and the actor, whom you likely know as the rebellious Lady Rose MacClare in Downton Abbey and the defiant heroine in Disney’s Cinderella remake, is quietly quarantining at her London home. To her surprise, she’s actually enjoying being still.

Lily, 31, has definitely earned the downtime. Since her graduation from drama school in 2010, she has been working nonstop, appearing in several hit TV shows and movies and racking up accolades from critics for her extraordinary depth and range on-screen.

‘Rebecca’ first look!

The Daily Mail has revealed the very first look of Rebecca (2020) starring Lily James, Armie Hammer and Keeley Hawes.

DAILY MAILLily James said Kristin Scott Thomas was ‘so absolutely terrifying’ as scary housekeeper Mrs Danvers when they were filming the new version of Daphne du Maurier’s gothic thriller Rebecca she felt compelled to obey her every command.

‘I almost jumped out of a window when she told me to!’ James admitted, as we discussed what it was like working on the film adaptation of the romantic murder mystery that’s still selling more than 50,000 copies a year, eight decades after it was first published.

Luckily for James, it was a film-set window, hence ‘like only two inches off the ground’.

Also luckily, there was plenty of light relief between takes when the actors weren’t inhabiting their characters, all of them oppressed by the shadow of Rebecca.

‘Oh, God, we were really hamming it up when we weren’t in front of the cameras!’ James told me.

Lily James To Star In ‘The Paris Trap’

DEADLINELily James is set to star in The Paris Trap, a thriller that Pablo Trapero will direct for Studiocanal. The film will be presented to buyers during the virtual Cannes Market and it will shoot in Paris early next year.

James is the star of Cinderella and Baby Driver, and Trapero the acclaimed Argentinian director of El Clan, which won the Silver Lion at Venice. Script was written by Daniel Taplitz with current revisions by Michael Lesslie. The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman will produce through their overall deal at Studiocanal, which is financing.

The Hitchcockian thriller revolves around a young American woman on a visit to Paris who becomes the victim of mistaken identity. Caught up in a secret international government operation, she must play the part to save her own life. James will play the young woman whose character is thrust to the center of the operation and must find her way out of the “trap,” helped by her handler. That role, the co-lead of the film, will be cast shortly.

Lily James To Star In Bank Robber Tale ‘Peggy Jo’

DEADLINE – Lily James will play Peggy Jo – a bank robber who committed her heists while dressed as a man – in a true-crime story from Salt director Phillip Noyce.

Loosely based on the true story of the real-life Peggy Jo, the pic is being pitched as ‘Bonnie but without the Clyde’ and has been adapted for screen by Appaloosa writer Robert Knott. It will shoot on location in Southern United States.

Simon Brooks said, “I have been looking to make a movie with Phillip Noyce for years and Peggy Jo is finally the one. It is a great emotive and thrilling story that will capture audiences worldwide.”

HanWay Films MD Gabrielle Stewart added, “Peggy Jo is all about wanting more than your life presents to you and celebrates with a wink and a nod, many of our favourite films from the 70s through to the 80s, in tone, fun, music, colour and pure escapist entertainment, with a whole load of heart.”
